From Policy to Practice: EPR for Textile Waste across Europe

According to the targeted revision of the Waste Framework Directive (WFD)  mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes for textiles shall be established in all EU Member States by 17 April 2028. Up to date, several MS have taken steps to implement this system, with some at a more advanced stage than others.  Preparing the ground and setting up the system has not come without challenges for all actors involved. However, some key learnings can also be drawn from this process. On this note, this debate aims at exploring more in depth the status of implementation of EPR schemes for textiles in 3 Member states (Ireland, Netherlands and Italy/Spain) and investigate the challenges and opportunities encountered in this process.
