Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has launched a public consultation on a draft regulation introducing an Extended Producer Responsibility scheme for furniture and furnishing products.
The measure aims to strengthen the circular economy by making producers responsible for the end-of-life management of products placed on the Italian market and promoting durability, repairability, disassembly, reuse and recycling. The regulation also sets out producer obligations, collection and recovery systems, and progressive targets for separate collection, reuse, recycling and recovery.
The Italian Environment Minister highlighted the initiative as a key step toward a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy, with potential benefits for businesses, consumers and the environment. Public and private stakeholders are invited to submit comments and contributions on the draft regulation.
